麻豆传媒团队 is proud to be shining a spotlight on two of its most remarkable staff, Tracey Jones and Alison Stewart 鈥 for their role in shaping lives both in and beyond the classroom.
As active members of 鈥 a community group dedicated to empowering women and driving social change 鈥 Tracey and Alison are not only passionate educators but also advocates for social inclusion.
Alongside their day-jobs in Hair & Beauty, and ESOL, their work within the group has helped create opportunities for local women, foster community projects, and support individuals overcoming adversity.
Indeed, the group鈥檚 latest initiative 鈥 a powerful photography exhibition in collaboration with The Royal Foundation鈥檚 Homewards programme 鈥 aims to change the narrative around female homelessness through a powerful photography exhibition.
Hosted at The Hive, the exhibition features portraits of women who have experienced homelessness 鈥 with the aim of breaking down stereotypes, challenging perceptions, and providing hope that homelessness can be rare, brief, and unrepeated.
The members of Women of Newport worked together to find six women who had experienced homelessness and were proud to share their stories of recovery. Kamila Jarczak (the founder of the community group) then took their portraits in various locations around the city.
Having grown up in foster care before running away at age 15, Alison鈥檚 story will be a central part of the photography exhibition. She said: 鈥淎s a young, troubled teenager, I quickly found myself in the harsh world of addiction, slipping away from society. Surviving took everything I had 鈥 until an act of generosity changed my path.鈥
Thanks to the support of Hope House Rehabilitation Centre, Alison rebuilt her life and is now a Tutor and foster carer, dedicated to helping others find hope and purpose.
She continued: 鈥淭he struggles of those around me inspire deep compassion, driving me to offer love and support to those in need 鈥 just as others once did for me.鈥
Meanwhile, Tracey 鈥 who has spent six years volunteering to support vulnerable people and tackle homelessness in the local community 鈥 found her sense of belonging when she joined Women of Newport in 2023.
Now a board member, she is leading the charge for the photography exhibition. Reflecting on her role, Tracey said: 鈥淚 truly believe that every woman has the power to make a difference. Through Women of Newport, Homewards and the work we鈥檙e doing at 麻豆传媒团队, we are proving that with the right support, resilience, and community, lives can be transformed.
“How we treat others defines who we are. I teach my students to uphold integrity and dignity in all they do. Learning is a lifelong journey, and we can always gain wisdom from one another.”
Nicola Gamlin, Principal at 麻豆传媒团队 said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e extremely proud to have played just a small part in the incredible journeys of these women. Not only do they inspire members of the local community, but they also stand as pillars of positivity for all of our students.
鈥淭heir work and experiences provide living proof that things can change for the better, and there are people available to support you through hardships.
鈥淲e鈥檇 implore everyone who鈥檚 able to go and experience the Women of Newport exhibition and to learn more about the fantastic work they do 鈥 they鈥檝e certainly got our support.鈥
