From Skills Competition Wales to the national WorldSkills UK competition, you can compete with students from colleges across the UK, winning medals in a range of sectors and boosting your employability skills.
Many of our previous Skills Competition Wales and WorldSkills competitors have moved from college directly into employment or launched their own successful businesses.

Skills Competition Wales
Skills Competition Wales gives you a chance to stand out from the crowd and boost your CV by competing across a range of sectors. Taking place between January and March each year, competitions are fun and free to enter.
Skills Competition Wales involves a series of local skills competitions, aligned to WorldSkills competition categories and the needs of the Welsh economy. Funded by the Welsh Government and run by a dedicated network of colleges like Â鶹´«Ã½ÍŶÓ, work-based learning providers and employer-led organisations, the competitions aim to raise the profile of skills training in Wales.
WorldSkills Competitions
Since 2012, we’ve proudly supported numerous learners as they’ve successfully competed in WorldSkills competitions, ranking in the top 10 league table for their skillsets for 3 years running.
Covering over 60 different skills spanning sectors such as engineering and construction to digital technology, WorldSkills UK helps to raise standards in skills education across the country, bringing world-class standards in skills development to the UK. With skills competitions designed by industry experts, they assess each learner’s knowledge, practical skills and employability attributes.

Â鶹´«Ã½ÍÅ¶Ó was selected as one of the first 20 colleges to form the ¾±²Ô²Ô´Ç±¹²¹³Ù¾±±¹±ðÌý±è°ù´Ç²µ°ù²¹³¾³¾±ð, in partnership with education and skills charity . programme, in partnership with education and skills charity NCFE. As part of the WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence programme, we’ll all benefit from NCFE’s expertise in curriculum development, and WorldSkills UK’s unique insights as the global hub for skills excellence.
We’re proud to help raise standards of apprenticeships and technical training, while making these opportunities available on your doorstep in Gwent, so you can join one of Wales’ top performing colleges and gain world-class skills across our range of vocational courses.
Led by WorldSkills UK High-Performance Skills Coaches, our tutors, Gareth Pugh, Robert Morse, Paul Chard, Stephanie Parrot and Cerys Rees, will be coached and mentored to embed world-class practises and techniques in their teaching, learning and assessment practices at Â鶹´«Ã½ÍÅ¶Ó across areas such as 3D Game Art,ÌýMotor Vehicle Maintenance,ÌýElectrical Engineering,ÌýHairdressing and Beauty, and Sport and Fitness. This expertise will be passed on to you, our learners, so you can develop world-class skills on your doorstep in South Wales.
