engineering learners and equipment

The City of Newport Campus has undergone a refurbishment of all the workshops and changing spaces for the new academic year, making the facilities bright, airy and spacious. So, our Engineering, Automotive and Mechanics learners work in modern, fresh workshops that reflect the contemporary vehicles and equipment they鈥檙e working on.

Meanwhile, our Automotive courses have moved into the realm of electric vehicles to keep up with the latest developments in the sector, and we have some intriguing new courses in the pipeline. 聽We鈥檒l be introducing part-time programmes in robotics and short courses on inspection, testing and installation of electric vehicle charging points. These new areas give you the opportunity to train for a career that鈥檚 future-proof!

If you study our Automotive courses, you鈥檒l be working on a brand-new Tesla Model 3, VW E Golf, 2 Nissan Leafs, BMW I3, and an Electric Nissan Light Van, gaining skills to work on the electric vehicles of the future. We also have all the necessary electric vehicle tooling and diagnostic software, new Snap-On vehicle lifts, new lathes, new milling machines including a CNC 5 axis machine, a new construction simulator and a range of engineering rigs and specialist kit.

This means that all our Automotive, Motorsport, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering learners can experience the latest equipment as part of their training. Our fantastic suite of new facilities complements our up-to-date curriculum in materials technology including carbon fibre composites, motorsport, manufacturing and aeronautical facilities in electric vehicles. After hearing about the transformation of the Engineering and Automotive department at the City of Newport Campus, Senedd Member, John Griffiths, visited the department this September to see the new facilities available for learners. With a keen interest in electric vehicles and lowering carbon emissions, he commented;

鈥溌槎勾酵哦 have recognised the type of green skills our local and national economies will need in the years ahead and responded proactively in the delivery of their engineering teaching, which includes their automotive and electric vehicle courses. We will only reduce our carbon emissions by investing in cleaner and greener technologies and I am pleased to see this happening in Newport. It鈥檚 great to see the students at 麻豆传媒团队 getting involved in this type of exciting learning and work. The skills they are developing on these courses will be critical for what they choose to do next and their future aspirations.鈥

As a further education college, we鈥檙e determined to play a vital role in upskilling the workforce of the future, helping to facilitate a zero-carbon world and tackle twenty-first century issues head-on with engineering expertise. So, join us for a practical course at 麻豆传媒团队 to change the face of engineering with cleaner, greener technology. Discover our Engineering and Automotive courses and apply now!
