In a nutshell

Learners will develop a common core of computing knowledge and study areas such as managing support systems, system analysis, and design & digital graphics to develop additional specialist computing knowledge. The course aims to provide learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in computer science, enabling learners to progress to further study in the computing sector.

The course takes a unit-by-unit approach and you’ll be assessed through assignments, tasks and written exams. Qualifications you’ll achieve are:

What is expected of me?

To enter, you’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above to include Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh First Language, or an appropriate Level 2 Diploma qualification with a Merit grade and GCSE Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh First Language at grade C or above.

You’ll need to be committed to your studies and progression to an apprenticeship or employment in the sector. You’ll need to be prepared to study and work in a learning environment which mirrors work rather than the classroom including extended hours, business dress and behaviours.
