In a nutshell
This course covers the various methods and best practices that are in line with business and technical requirements for modelling, visualizing, and analysing data with Power BI. The course will show how to access and process data from a range of data sources including both relational and non-relational sources. Finally, this course will also discuss how to manage and deploy reports and dashboards for sharing and content distribution.
This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

Course content
This course is delivered by virtual classroom. Virtual classrooms are equivalent to face-to-face classroom courses, but delivered in an online environment.
Course Duration: 3 days
This course will learn individuals how to:

Design and create reports for data analysis

Apply and perform advanced report analytics

Manage and share report assets
The course will consist of the following modules:
Module 1: Get Started with Microsoft Data Analytics
Module 2: Prepare Data in Power BI
Module 3: Design a data model in Power BI
Module 4: Create Model Calculations using DAX in Power BI
Module 5: Create Reports in Power BI
Module 6: Perform Advanced Analytics in Power BI
Module 7: Deploy and maintain Power BI Assets
Module 8: Implement row-level security in Power BI
Entry Requirements
It is recommended learners have the following experience before attending the PL-300 course:
- Understanding core data concepts.
- Knowledge of working with relational data in the cloud.
- Knowledge of working with non-relational data in the cloud.
- Knowledge of data analysis and visualization concepts.
You can gain the above prerequisites and a better understanding of working with data in Azure by completing Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) before taking this course.
You will need access to internet, a windows computer and webcam/microphone

The PLA programme intends to provide quality career advice and guidance to participants before, during and after their learning.
Prior to being enrolled onto your PLA funded course, a individual learning plan will be discussed with you to ensure that the right learning has been considered.
This will include a general discussion on the following topics:
- formal education or qualifications in related fields
- prior experience within the industry or field
- career aspirations
- dedication of time required
- access to internet, windows computer and webcam/microphone
This will also include specific discussion on the below areas for this course:
- experience of using Power BI and to what extend
- any prior experience with data analysis or business intelligence tools
- experience of working with databases, including writing queries (e.g., SQL)
